Ultrasonic Welding of Low Solderability Metals

Ultrasonic Welding of Low Solderability Metals – Soldering Iron – Cheersonic

The difficulty of obtaining high-quality welding joints for different materials under certain welding conditions and using certain welding methods is called the weldability of the material. For the same metal material, there may be significant differences in its weldability when different welding methods and materials are used. The weldability of metals includes two aspects: process weldability and usage weldability. Carbon has the most significant impact on the weldability of steel. The higher the carbon equivalent, the poorer the weldability of the steel. Low carbon steel has a carbon content of no more than 0.25%, good plasticity, generally no tendency to harden, and is not sensitive to the welding process, with good welding performance. Medium carbon steel has poor weldability. The carbon content of medium carbon steel is between 0.25% and 0.6%. As the carbon content increases, the tendency to harden becomes more pronounced, and the weldability gradually deteriorates. High carbon steel has poorer weldability and a greater tendency to harden and crack after welding.

Ultrasonic Welding of Low Solderability Metals - Soldering Iron

The tip of ultrasonic soldering iron vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies. This vibration induces cavitation in the molten solder, which breaks up and removes oxides and promotes wetting. Ultrasonic soldering iron enables the easier joining of hard-to-solder materials which are known as impossible or difficult to be soldered in conventional soldering. Eco-friendly soldering is achieved by fluxless soldering and no post treatment to remove flux. The ultrasonic soldering technology is widely used in low solderability metals. The ultrasonic soldering iron of Cheersonic produces high quality soldered joints. Using the solder alloy, can easily solder directly to glass, ceramics and other low solderability materials.
